This Caol Ila 40 Year Old is an exceptional whisky, and only exceptional whiskies are selected by the Speciality Brands director to be bottled for this exclusive series in The Single Malts of Scotland guise.
Each bottling is aged to perfection, celebrating both the classic characteristics of the distillery and the subtle changes created by time and oak.
Only 108 bottles were produced from a single cask of Caol Ila Single Malt Scotch Whisky, which was aged for more than 40 years.
The Single Malts of Scotland is a range of superb vintage Single Malt Scotch Whiskies individually selected from our stocks of ageing casks from the six main producing regions of Scotland.
Only casks that are judged to have attained the required quality and character are bottled under The Single Malts of Scotland label.
To ensure each whisky maintains its original flavour and cask character, we do not chill-filter or add colour.
Nose: Peach iced tea on a hot summer's day, surrounded by vines of honeysuckle. A hint of bonfire in the distance, carried on the breeze.
Palate: A whisper of elegant smoke emerges on the palate but allows juicy tropical fruit to take center stage.
Finish: This whisky continues to develop, as a long, complex finish. The fruit and smoke give way to moreish minerality and leave you with fresh peppermint.
