A 7th release in the incredible Black Art series from Bruichladdich.
Bruichladdich's Black Art series has long been seen as one of the standout releases from this popular Islay distillery.
Using an undisclosed combination of casks, these whiskies have offered a multitude of aromas and taste sensations, with only the head distiller, laterly Adam Hannet, knowing the make up of the whisky.
There’s a touch of witchcraft about the bottling for Bruichladdich’s Black Art range, and you can’t help but be enchanted by it!
Matured for 25 years in casks that are an undisclosed secret known only by the Head Distiller.
Distilled in 1994, this Islay malt was released in 2019 at an amiable 48.4% with only a limited amount of 8500 bottles released.
Unusually from Bruichladdich, an un-peated Islay whisky, bottled in 2019 at 48.4% vol.
Nose: Complex, concentrated notes of marzipan, then walnut and crème caramel, followed by Turkish honey, passing on to the scents of strawberries, violets and coconuts.
Palate: You can see a slight sharpness, which quickly turns into a velvety texture and a soft, round mouthfeel. The first, rather dry, woody aromas give way to the fruity-sweet combination of coconut.
Finish: The Black Art 07.1 ends in an incredible finale of roasted nuts, tropical fruits, baked pineapple and butterscotch.
