It all began in Svendborg, a delightful little town with a picturesque port in the cold waters of the Baltic Sea, in Denmark. Here, a small tobacco manufacturer opened in 1826.

The Mac Baren blends were so successful that in 1995 the company’s name changed to The Mac Baren Tobacco Company.

To this day, Mac Baren Tobacco Company belongs 100% to the Halberg family, which has for a generous four generations guided it to become one of the leaders on the pipe tobacco market, ranking Mac Baren as the second largest producer in the world.

These days, Mac Baren brand is recognised as a synonym for quality by smokers across the globe and we could not be prouder of our history and extremely grateful to everyone who, with their hard work, commitment and devotion, has contributed to writing this history. 

A well-known blend enjoyed by many pipe smokers worldwide. Fine Virginia and Burley tobaccos from top farmers in South America, Africa and the Far East are pressed into blocks and stored for weeks. Then cut into flakes and rubbed out to ease the filling of the pipe.

This blend provides lots of original tobacco taste combined with the sweetness of choice Virginia tobaccos and finally balanced by Burley tobacco.

Originally Players Whiskey Ready Rubbed. Mac Baren Highland Mixture consists of ready rubbed, fully mature Virginia tobaccos and carefully selected, golden brown Burley.

To round off the taste, we have added a touch of specially spiced Cavendish.

As a finishing touch, the tobacco blender has added a generous measure of 30-year-old Glenfarclas - a pedigree single malt highland whisky.
