Pour yourself a dram of this beautiful golden amber single malt whisky and take a few small inhalations to start to enjoy the aroma without water.
It has an intense Sherry nose with heaps of stewed apple, pear and delightful vanilla pod aromas... delicious toasted malt aromas develop and complement an underlying menthol edge.
Now take a sip and savour the taste without water... there’s cracked black pepper with juicy fresh strawberry and raspberry... hints of orange peel and milk chocolate combine with a delicate smoky edge.

Jim Murray has scored this Benromach a 87.5/100 in his 2015 Whisky Bible, describing it as 'for a relatively small still using peat, the experience is an unexpected and delicately light one'.
Nose: Soft with a leather undertone. Quite savoury, with gravelly notes, beeswax polish, linseed oil, oak bark and moss.
Palate: Quite dry, like the nose, but with some dark sugar sweetness. Spiced fruit cake and the leather from the nose are joined by a rich earthiness, coal dust and some green leafiness.
Finish: Green oak, ashes and sweet waxed apples.
proof positive that toasty oak, a dash of fruit and several puffs of peat can go a long, long way...; beautiful mouth-feel, as thick as anything I have seen from the new Benromach before. The fabulous spice really does make a name for itself, but all those notes recognised on the nose are present and correct here; more of the same, but a layer of Jaffa Cake towards the finish, though it is short-lived as it dries....; for any confused US readers, the strength is based on the old British proof strength , not American! What is not confusing is the undisputed complexity and overall excellence of this malt.
