A stunning 17 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky from those at Benriach distillery which has been finished in a Pedro Ximénez sherry puncheon.
This is rich yet smooth with classic sherried notes of coffee and dark chocolate, along with a delicate sweetness – this Benriach is definitely a whisky to be had!
BenRiach has long championed the use of Pedro Ximenez casks in which to finish its award-winning whisky.
Maturation in these flavourful casks gives the whisky extra sherry sweetness and richness, darkens the spirit and adds notes of syrupy dried fruits, raisins and molasses on the palate.
Nose: Creamy spices with delicious chocolate and sugar-coated almonds which flow over sweet sultanas and dark fruit cake.
Palate: Yet more dark chocolate with freshly ground coffee beans which merge with sweet dates and fresh figs.
Finish: Delightful, peppery, vintage oak and warm cigar box spices add to the long and contrasting finish.
