  • Comprising three single malts, The Balvenie Stories range includes 12 Year Old The Sweet Toast of American Oak, 14 Year Old The Week of Peat and 26 Year Old A Day of Dark Barley.

The Balvenie The Sweet Toast Of American Oak is story no. 1 in The Balvenie Story Series. Inspired to produce an even fruitier, sweeter Balvenie, Apprentice Malt Master Kelsey Mckenchie had the bright idea to import Virgin Oak Barrels from Kentucky

After deep toasting them at The Balvenie Cooperage they were filled with Balvenie aged in ex-bourbon barrels.

The result is a delectably complex whisky that has been aged for 12 years with notes of candied fruit, coconut and delicate vanilla.
  • Nose: Lusciously malty with some sweet fudge, followed by a citrus hint with oak vanilla aromas as layers of spicy oak notes of ginger and cinnamon round the nose off.

Palate: Candied orange and lemon peel with rich vanilla toffee and butterscotch, layers of blossom honey provide a sweet hint with some melted brown sugar and oak spices lingering on the finish.

Finish: Rich and malty with gentle waves of oak vanilla and subtle spices.

Better than what i had expected, i didnt think it would top the double wood but it does. Lovely and smooth with sweet flavourings and oak which lingers around for a while.

An easy sipper for any occasion, reminiscent of the Balvenie Doublewood but with an unexpected character for a 12 year old. Oak spice and plenty of vanilla notes, caramel and buttery chocolate with some spice and cinnamon on the palate. Dry finish with honey and liquorice flavours.
