Arran was home to many stills in the early 1800s (not all of them legal!) and in 1840 the original Lagg Distillery closed its doors.
It wasn't until 1994 when Arran Whisky starting building their distillery in Lochranza at the north end of the island. Lochranza was chosen as the water there was of such high quality.
The first whisky ran through the still in June 1995 and the distillery was officially opened in the August.
Lagg is distilled and matured on a low lying stretch of coast near the village of Kilmory at the south end of the Isle of Arran, in the island's agricultural heartland.
This Inaugural Release first spent 30 months in First-Fill Ex-Bourbon Barrel Casks, before spending 6 months in 55 litre Ex-Oloroso Sherry Casks.
It is Non Chill Filtered, therefore retaining its natural colour and was bottled at 50% ABV.
It's tasting notes include flavours of sultanas, warm spices and smoke.
