PARIS HERF! (2003)

PARIS HERF 19th-21st September 2003

I spent the weekend "herfing" with the boys (Craig,Vimal,Gordon,Harvey,Andrea and Chris) in sunny Paris for the annual Paris herf affectionately referred to as "THOPT"! (the herf of old Paris town).

We drove over with sans roof (!) on Friday morning. 35 minutes through the tunnel and we were smoking superb Cohiba Siglo V!'s from Calais to Paris. Not a sign of any traffic police on the road so we made it to Paris in record time;-)

Paris is one of the most cigar friendly cities I have ever known and wherever we went we smoked our cigars without any comments or problems from anyone.

Dinner at "Cafe Ruc" was a delight,I'm certain that Gordon was intent on testing the foie gras wherever we would eat whilst Harvey became our wine expert this year:-) Vimal,Craig and I were content to take the advice on the wine and discuss Siglo VI and the other splendid limited edition cigars that have recently been introduced from Havana. We moved on to Hotel Louvre which has an excellent lounge and delightful vintage Calvados which we enjoyed with our Partagas serie D no. 2 maduros.

A visit to la Civette ( a very classy cigars shop operated by Davidoff) followed by lunch on Saturday was very pleasant at "Le Bistro de Marius" at 6 Ave George V followed by a visit to Tabac George V and then a walk to the Elie Bleu shop to examine these incredible creations which really are the Rolls Royce of humidors.

Pre dinner drinks/smokes at Chez Craig was too good for words as Craig has the perfect smokers balcony!...needless to say we did not want to leave and Vimal and I were even planning to order a case of champagne and pizza delivery so we would not have to leave.Gordon would not hear of this as he needed to taste test some more foie gras! We moved on to the "Mojito Habana" at 19 Rue Presbourg which is a cigar friendly restaurant and cigar club for another first rate meal.

Sunday lunch at "Flavios" in le Touquet with excellent seafood,Chablis and Cohiba Siglo VI rounded off a perfect weekend.....and now we are planning next years trip!
