TRINIDAD
Trinidad is named after the beautiful 16th Century city of La Santísima Trinidad (The Holy Trinity), listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, which is situated on Cuba’s south coast.
Trinidad, as a Havana brand, dates back to 1969 but for many years, like Cohiba, it was made only as gifts to foreign diplomats. Not until 1998 was it released for general sale and then only in small quantities.
At the start there was only the one size of Fundadores before more were added through the years (In 2003 three more sizes: Reyes, Coloniales and Robusto Extra and then in 2009 the Robusto T - In 2011 Habanos S.A. announced the withdrawal of Robusto Extras and Robusto Ts from regular production). In 2009 Trinidad’s livery and its cigar band were updated to recognise the prestige that the brand commanded.
For several years Trinidad was made at El Laguito, the Cohiba factory, where its uniquely fragrant and aromatic, medium flavoured blend of filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region was developed.
By the end of 2004 demand for Trinidad had outstripped the production capacity at El Laguito and it was decided that the manufacture of all the brand’s sizes should be transferred to Pinar del Rio City. It is here that Trinidad is made today close to the famous Vuelta Abajo plantations.
All sizes are ‘Tripa larga, totalmente a mano’ – long filler, totally hand made vitolas.
CABILDOS 2024 LIMITED EDITION UK EXCLUSIVE
The Trinidad Cabildos Premier Pack will be launched at the Habanos World Days Gala Dinner on June 22nd
2024, in London. These Premier Packs have been produced by Habanos SA exclusively for the United Kingdom and will never be released into other markets.
This is the second Premier Pack that Habanos has ever produced and only 10,000 numbered packs have been made. As each one contains 5 Cabildos, that means just 50,000 cigars have been made. It is expected that boxes of 12 Cabildos will go on general worldwide sale in around six months’ time.
The Trinidad Cabildos measures 6 3/8” (162mm) x 46 ring gauge and is known as an Ilustres in the factories of Cuba, it is a unique size within the Habanos portfolio. As with all Trinidads it has an aromatic and approachable
medium bodied blend, beautifully framed by the slight sweetness that the dark wrapper provides.
It is the fourth Edición Limitada from the brand, following the Ingenios (2007), Short Robusto T (2010) and Topes (2016). These cigars have all been made totally by hand using long filler leaves, all sourced from the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba and aged for a minimum of two years.
