The first Peterson patents awarded to Peters in the 1890’s would revolutionise the pipe-making world and turn a fledgling idea into what has become the oldest continuously operating pipe-maker in the world.
Peterson are the oldest briar pipe makers in the world, still using hand tools for each and every pipe, and still checking everything by eye.
Following on from the hit sensation of the Dracula series (which the younger generation bought it in huge numbers, making it Peterson's biggest success in recent years) the Jekyll and Hyde series is based on the original novel Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde written by the Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson that was first published in 1886.
The collection includes two shapes, the great 05-Bent Calabash and the X105 Straight Billiard and they certainly have a split personality.
Reflecting the Jekyll and Hyde persona these pipes are something quite different. Handcrafted with a very distinctive look, you have a high polished red spray one side and a rustic finish to the opposite. An engraved (Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde) nickel band sits firmly towards a classic black Ebonite fishtail mouthpiece, hot foil stamped "P" which completes this great pipe of two halves.
