A 2018 release in the series of batched releases of The Macallan Rare Cask, this Speyside single malt is crafted from some of the rarest stocks in The Macallan Estate.
Released in the second half of 2018 and one of a projected 7 releases - a whisky created from just 50 seasoned sherry casks!
Handpicked by Macallan’s Whisky Maker from less than 1% of the casks maturing at The Macallan Distillery, this bottle contains whisky from an exceptionally high proportion of first fill Sherry casks.
Nose: Soft on the nose with delicate hints of vanilla and raisin before refreshing fruits.
Palate: Oak develops with yet more vanilla as the palate's richness slowly develops with chocolate and a refreshing citrus zest.
Finish: Full and warming.

Serge described it as ‘More traditional Macallany touches after two or three minutes, with a wee meatiness, some pipe tobacco, marmalade, and touches of cedar wood or cigar box. Including its content. The raspberries fight back after ten minutes.’
