This is the new no-age-statement Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the famous Speyside distillery of Macallan.
Macallan's new range has done away with age-statements and instead focuses on the colour of the whisky with the concept being, the older the whisky, the darker the colour.
Produced from 9 to 15 Year Old first fill and refill sherry casks, this Macallan was created to sit between the 10 Year Old Sherry Oak and 10 Year Old Fine Oak bottlings.
Technicalities aside, this certainly is a great whisky packed with assertive vanilla and citrus flavours.
A 70cl 40% ABV bottling presented in a fantastic Macallan packaged box, this whisky is a whisky to be had!
Nose: A lemon citrus nose with orange peel and an interlacing sweetness that softens but maintains the zest. A slight vanilla note is followed by dark chocolate with lingering floral and light oak notes.
Palate: Citrus and boiled sweets dominate, along with hints of ginger and cinnamon, while soft oak tones reveal toasted apples.
Finish: Medium sweet, malty and slightly dry.
