Distilled in 2004, this 16-year-old Royal Lochnagar single malt has been matured in both American oak and European oak refill casks, before being bottled as part of Diageo's 2021 Special Releases.
Despite its bright and bold bottle, the dram itself is a more friendly than you might think.
The Highland dram is presented at a hearty 57.5% abv, and is cask strength which means no artificial colouring, or chill filtration has been used with the whisky retaining original features.
Nose: With subtle hints of fruity, zesty, puff-pastry aromas.
Palate: The palate is where the horse kicks on, delivering a creamy texture that rolls across, developing with fruity acidity and a quick oaky dryness.
Finish: The finish is wonderful, with lingering pepper in a toasted oak aftertaste.
