  • A bottle of Glen Moray 12 Year Old in a Scotland's Historic Highland Regiments tin.

Like many of its neighbours, the distillery suffered in the slump at the start of the 20th century and closed in 1910. In 1923 Glen Moray was purchased by Glenmorangie owner Macdonald & Muir.

In 1958 the capacity doubled to four stills and a Saladin box was installed, though just 20 years later Glen Moray’s maltings were decommissioned. In the late 1990s, Glen Moray introduced its first wine cask finished expressions, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc.

After a short period under the ownership of LVMH (from 2004), the distillery was sold to French distilling firm La Martiniquaise in 2008.

Nice bottle with original tin, this particular tin is for the Highland Light Infantry.

Please note as this is a vintage bottle, conditions of bottle/label and liquid level can vary - Some years can vary as estimations only (example: estimated 1970s/80s).

  • Nose: Big on vanilla and honey and cereal grains. Honey Smacks, actually. The scent of fresh cut grass lingers somewhere beneath all the sweetness.

Palate: On the palate, it's lighter than the nose suggests. Crisp and fruity with white chocolate, toffee. Softly malty with some floral character.

Finish: Short and fruity. It's a solid baseline Speyside, not overly complex, and with an ABV that is well-suited for enjoying the whisky neat
