What a pleasure ! I dont often review, well this is my 1st ! But the flavour of this cigar is still on my lips and Id like to give it credit. A big cigar, a Churchill at 7 and 48 ring gauge at £13.39 but you already know that. Before lighting; it has a lovely medium dark binder, no flaws I can see, no glue repairs needed, nice clean aroma. It cut very cleanly and the pre light draw was open and free from any plugs that I can feel.
Toasted and lit the first draw was cool with a good rounded flavour, mild for such a large cigar, after a couple of minutes it came to life, my kind of life, what a soothing flavour. I settled down hoping against disappointment, and it never happened. I started at 15:40 ended at 17:30, note I smoke slowly, compared to what Ive read from others, I want to take my time, this hobby aint a cheap one, I gave up cigarettes 6 years ago after 40 odd years so now I can afford the odd cigar now and then, and I dont cough my guts out in the morning, a blessing!
First impressions...I LIKE! Very even burn, compared to many, extremely nice taste on the lip and through the nose, I wont try and describe flavours as some can do (and I envy them) like wine, its beyond me, I either like it or I dont and I believe everyone has at least a slightly different palate so Ill shut up about that and let you decide for yourselves, think Montecristo...
First ash was dropped at just a hair over and inch and a half and that stayed the same throughout. This has a full flavour but had a gentleness to it that I loved, not the flavour of say a Hiram and Solomon and others, of course but that was my smoke yesterday so Im comparing to that. But as a daily smoke its high on my list. I wont quote all my tasting notes and bore you to tears but I can honestly say, especially for the price and at nearly 2 hours this is a wonderful cigar, even if you hate it (you wont) its worth the risk at the price but do not tell em I said that! A couple of wet finger burn corrections, no big deal, otherwise we spent a lovely time together and no plugs like some Cubans I couldnt possibly mention, but you know who they are. The label came off, very easily when needed, flavour had intensified a bit by then but no real heat which really pleased me as I like to get my moneys worth and I did. No relighting, burned wonderfully throughout and I was very sorry to let it go out, already ordered more. Hope I didnt bore you, just buy one, then you can tell be how little taste I have; or not !
