Sitting on the southern coastline, the current distillery was founded in 1815, the original having been destroyed by excise men.
George Islay MacNeill Robertson was born in the police station on Islay, a few miles from Ardbeg. He rose to become the 10th general secretary of NATO.
This cask was laid down to commemorate the visit of Lord Robertson of Port Ellen, former Secretary General of NATO.
Cask #1217 is complex but has a great balance.
