Simon Bolivar was one of the great historic figures of the 19th Century who liberated much of South America from Spanish rule.

The Bolivar brand was created in 1902 and is based today in the Partagas factory which is in the heart of Havana.

It is perhaps not surprising that a Habano named after such a powerful figure is blended to match his might. Bolivar is among the strongest, most full bodied of all Habanos. It boasts an unrivalled richness of flavour in its blend of Vuelta Abajo zone filler and binder tobacco that makes it one of the most sought-after marques amongst experienced smokers.

The Super Corona represents the second time that Bolivar has been selected for an Edicion Limitada, following the Petit Belicosos in 2009. It also shares its name, although not its dimensions, with a previous Super Corona produced by H.Upmann. Although two millimetres shorter than a standard Corona, it boasts a heavier ring gauge than the standard vitola. A Super Corona indeed.

Limited Edition cigars are made from specially selected tobacco leaves that have all been aged for a minimum of two years.

More Info

You will be introduced to earth, dark cocoa and coffee in the first third of this smoke, with subtle hints of pepper in the beginning which slowly develops into a touch of spice on the palette.

To finish off this fine and unique smoke, the flavours turn sweeter, with a slight raisin taste to it. Balanced throughout with hay and earth, you will notice the strength getting stronger as you finish this beauty. Sit back and relax in the evening with this cigar and your favourite dram!

"...The smoke of this dark, rustic cigar is dense and chewy, leaving earthy, espresso-like impressions on the palate. Clove and bittersweet chocolate notes appear as well..."

Medium high strength. initial taste is really smooth and moderate. As smoking time goes on more papery and spicy, oaky taste. There is no bad at all! Decent Cigar.

This was my first full bodied cigar and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Straight away you know your smoking something strong ,real full flavours from the off but as the cigar develops it gets smoother and smoother. Wonderful oily wrapper and great even burn throughout.Smoked it right to the end. Very reasonable price for a limited edition and all round a wonderful smoke. Highly recommend it.

Im currently sat in the garden shed, 8:30pm, and its been a warm spring day here in Oxfordshire. You can smell summer is around the corner, and so after being in the humidor for a good 4 months. i decided it was a night for a Bolivar. I am currently half way through this smoke and the thing that stands out the most, is the plumbs of thick creamy nutty smoke from every draw. The combustion is even and smooth, the taste is soft on the pallet, and yet full with no hint of harshness. Looking and feeling the wrapper, It is dark. A deep oily chocolate stick with the perfect solid even end cap, for a nice cut! End caps can often be minimal at best, but this stands out as a decent strong cap. Unlikely to come off three quarters into the smoke. And this matters when enjoying a cigar to the end! I would suggest the full body lends itself to an after dinner smoke. Its also a smoke that wouldn't fail you during a breeze. I have often smoked certain cigars outside and find you lose some enjoyment in the slightest breeze. Hoyo's seem to fall fowl of this for me most often. As for the taste i touched on earlier in the review. It's predominantly that signature Bolivar nuttiness, with a hint of leather and earth. Over all a pleasant smoke so far as i enter the final third. So i will leave you to enjoy the rest of this smooth, easy drawing, even burning, thick oily relaxing smoke. Scott Jezzard.
