We are very proud to present the 2014 UK Habanos Regional Edition: Por Larrañaga Sobresaliente. The Spanish word “Sobresaliente” translates to “Outstanding” and is the vitola de galara (factory name) for a size which was first seen in 2007 as the Partagas Sobresaliente in the Replica de Humidor Antiguo. Only 200 humidors containing 50 cigars were made and the size remains an extremely rare production as a Habanos.

Measuring 6" (153mm) x 53 ring gauge, it is the first time the Sobresaliente vitola has been presented in the Por Larrañaga brand and like our 2007 Regional Edition (Por Larrañaga Magnifico) will be dressed with a special cigar band that Hunters & Frankau re-created from a style and design found adorning the brand at the turn of the 20th century.The cigars are presented in SBN boxes of 10 and only 5,000 numbered boxes have been produced for exclusive sale in the UK.

Regional Editions

Since 2005, the companies that normally distribute Habano cigars in different territories around the world have been invited by Habanos SA to bid for the chance to create their own sizes in less well known Habanos brands. These are then made in limited quantities for sale only in their own markets. These cigars are known as Regional Editions.

To qualify being called a Regional Edition cigar they must be of limited production in a standard Habanos vitola (size) that is new to that particular brand. They must only be sold to customers in the distributors area and since 2006 have been available in individually numbered boxes with each cigar having a second band. The second band for cigars heading to the UK market used to read "Exclusivo Reino Unido" (Exclusive to United Kingdom) but since 2011 has been changed to "Exclusivo Gran Bretana" (Exclusive to Great Britain).
