Well, I must agree with the editors of Cigar Aficionado magazine (Feb. 2007 issue). This was named THE Cigar of the year for 2006. My box arrived in impeccable condition a scant 24 hours after ordering it from MO.
POS factory, date code Sept. '06.
Pre-smoke inspection revealed a solid, box-pressed shape with perfect uniform construction, size and shape on every single stick. A Slight oiliness on the wrapper.
The smoke lit and burned evenly throughout with a light grey ash.
The draw was absolutely perfect throughout (I prefer a bullet punch on Robustos).
The flavor was strong and powerful, but young, with a strong finish on the palate. A very potent punch midway through as the spiciness really came through. Not a smoke for the faint-hearted, nor would I recommend it on an empty stomach or as a morning smoke. Flavor was complex and spicy with more complex notes towards the middle. I would say overall an EXCELLENT vitola with complex flavor. Again I agree with the editors at CA t
