Vat 69 was originally bottled in Port bottles, it maintained this iconic look for over 100 years.
This lot comprises an early and later 1960s version, one bottled at 40%, the other at 44% ABV.
VAT 69 is a famous old brand of blended whisky that was the favourite whisky of Captain Lewis Nixon of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment.
It was first made in 1882 by William Sanderson, a liquor manufacturer from Leith, Scotland.
Blended using forty different malt and grain whiskies, this is a smooth, balanced spirit and a perennial favourite with blend drinkers.

Nose: A warm start with hints of spice and caramel, combined with barley malt as a hint of juice lingers.
Palate: Ground almonds and barley malt, like the nose, the warming aspect continues with pepper as a sweet tone lies underneath.
Finish: Woody with predominant spices combined with rich caramel.
