Herman Upmann was a banker from Germany who so loved Cuban cigars that he moved to Havana in 1844 and set up as both banker and cigar maker. His bank closed in the early 1920's but his cigars live on as a fine example of an elegant, light to medium flavoured Habano.

H. Upmann's blend is composed exclusively of filler and binder tobaccos grown in the Vuelta Abajo zone.

Gold medals in no less than eleven international exhibitions during the 19th Century can be found on the brand's labelled boxes.

Measuring 4¾” (120mm) in length and boasting an impressive 54 ring gauge, the Magnum 54is the latest introduction to the H.Upmann range. The cigar immediately claims the crown of the widest girth to be found within the brand’s standard portfolio and is presented in SLB boxes of 25 and 10.

The 54 joins the H.Upmann Magnum family alongside the current Magnum 46 and Magnum 50 and like them, proudly displays its name on a second band.

H.Upmann cigars are light to medium in flavour, totally handmade using long filler with all leaves sourced from the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba, widely regarded as the best tobacco growing land in the world.

Tasting Notes

90 / 100

"...There's a lemony, citrus quality to this fat robusto that frames its core of graham cracker, malted chocolate and floral notes. It exudes a cinnamon aroma as it burns..."

Great stick but I would recommend you buy 10 singles instead of this if you wanna save some money. 196.29 divided by 10 = 19.629 a stick but they sell for 17.95 on this website for singles (current prices)

This is my first H.Upmann and wow what a cigar. Good construction and draw. Starts very light with woody notes and hints of pepper. The pepper builds nicely and a nuttiness comes through. Will be ordering more of these.

Every so often a few cigars I smoke are worthy of a fair review and this tasty and pleasurable smoke I enjoyed after dinner. Smoked for around a hour and I paired it with a Jack Daniels single barrel, before some of you turn your nose up to the idea of Jack it complimented the flavours of wood and sweetness of the cigar very well, worth a sample also. The magnum is the biggest ring I'd venture too, being 54 it starts of with typical Upmann flavours being light with cream and wood hints, plenty of smoke. But a 1/3 in the cigar became more medium and the feeling of relaxing was pleasurable after dinner. I'd recommend any Upmann fans and any who like the fatter ring gauge..... my honest opinion and one I'm going to do is age them, for there potential of age and mellowing out would make a fine smoke.

The new Magnum 54 is a unique size in the Cuban range measuring in at 120mm x 54 and is as usual a classic H.Upmann. I always say that H.Upmann and Trinidad are the most consistent in flavours in all of the Cuban range. The cigar begins with very mild sweet and creamy notes. Don’t be surprised if it is too mild for you at this is just the beginning. The flavours develop into a medium strength with a sweet smoke and coffee notes with that classic H.Upmann pepper on the palate. This great cigar finishes very sweet and pepper spice on the palate creating a great combination and very rich flavour. This cigar reminds me of the H.Upmann Connoisseur A with very similar flavours but with a lovely dark and oily wrapper. David. Est 1817 Cigars and Whisky Liverpool
