Petite Sirah from Don Sebastiani & Sons will definitely get you in the mood for the change of seasons.
For more than 115 years, the Sebastiani name has been one well known with quality winemaking in Sonoma County. Likewise, the Wilson family has been growing grapes in the Clarksburg region south of Sacramento since 1922.
Created in tribute to the multi-generational partnership these two well-regarded wine families have enjoyed, The Crusher is fittingly named for the point where the fruit of one family's labours literally gives way to those of the other.
Inky in colour, this Petite Sirah is brimming with aromatics; wisteria blossom, cherries and crème brûlée perforate the senses. Dense flavours of milk chocolate, blueberry and clove mingle harmoniously to create this deep, rich and expressive wine. Spending nearly fourteen months in 90% French oak, the presence of a vanilla core is undeniable. Together these dark fruit flavours, spice notes and floral aromatics create a wonderfully refined glass of wine with a polished finish.
The primary flavours are similar to the aroma with some added spice and vanilla, ending nicely with a medium length finish which invites you to take another sip.
Try pairing with a herb crusted lamb loin or a simple butternut squash soup.
