Glen Moray: Nose: Light and fresh with a floral tone to it. Nutty, dried grass with a slight fruitiness to it. Palate: Oak, gentle. Well balanced with walnut, grist, citrus and lemon sponge. Finish: Tangy citrus with spicy fruitcake.
This mysterious whisky contains all the ingredients of a really good Islay malt. The peat, the smoke and the mystery. A very good bottling to recommand to everybody, especially to those who are not familiar with extremely peaty malts from Islay.
Glenfiddich 12: Nose: Slightly floral and mineralic. Spirity, orchard fresh fruit, malty, honey and citrus develops. Palate: Light, floral, spices. All in all, very smooth. Finish: Sweet with a touch of oak and fresh fruit, oily.
Benriach: Nose: Floral and grassy with heather honey. Vanilla sweetness with a hint of fresh peat. Palate: Silken delivery offers white peach and spicy toffee apple. Floral notes and honey follows. Finish: Refined with little spice. Melted chocolate adds to the finish.
Aberlour 10: Nose: Sweet and full with sherried raisins, hints of toffee and a pleasant nuttiness. Palate: Quite full-bodied. Spicy rich fruitcake, toffee notes and a creamy malty-feel. Finish: Caramel and honey, malt still evident and the sweet spices still linger. Overall: Lovely and rich.
Glenlivit 12: Nose: Sweet creamy vanilla, honey, fresh pineapple, pressed apples and a hint of cinnamon. Palate: Apple cores, fresh, fruity trifle and creamy citrus. Finish: Long and delicious with almonds and apple.
