Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich and creamy, developing into vanilla, ripe fruits, marzipan followed by hints of sherbet, almonds and strawberries.
Palate: Thick and oily, fruity and mellow; gives way to a sweet liquorice and aniseed flavour as it opens up.
Finish: Sweet and chocolatey with some coconut, the finish is long and consistent with a pleasant smokey tingle.

Brandy snaps, fun fair smells, candy floss, honey comb and touch of smoke. Bit of a prickle on the palate, chewy texture with dry straw finish. Lucy Britner. Salted caramel and hokey pokey ice cream. Candied fruit peel. Damp peat iike a doused fire. Damp firewood form the shore. Chewy and rich but heavy. Annabel Meikle.

Luscious vanillas, cream toffee, some minty/menthol notes and a hint of drying wood spice. Intelligent and balanced. Neil Ridley.

Dusty, earthy, notes of candied mixed peel and sugared almonds. Lovely medium-full palate with some sweet tinned fruit notes and a wisp of smoke. Tim Forbes.

Dusty, musty old rucksacks in a wooden chest forest floor, garden fence; sherbet, tea, tobacco, bourbon biscuits, barley sugars, banana and orange. The palate is bitter, spicy and astringent tea, rhubarb rock, tobacco, nutmeg, clove; some fruity sweetness (crystallised orange and lemon, spiced peach). Robin Laing.

Wonderful dram with more complexity than other 18 years on the market. Lovely soft, rich mouth feel, somewhat oily and with the trademark Springbank notes.
