Introducing from the Campbeltown Springbank distillery, a multi-award-winning single malt matured in 80% ex-Sherry casks and 20% ex-bourbon casks.
The first edition of this 18 Year Old was extremely popular, with more than a hint of sherry among the Springbank brine and smoke, and this version has already been named as Best Campbeltown Malt at the World Whiskies Awards 2014.
At one time, Campbeltown was once known as the Whisky Capital of the World as there were more than 30 active distilleries on the small peninsula of Kintyre in Southwestern Scotland, there are now just three.
Nose: Rich and creamy, developing into vanilla, ripe fruits, marzipan followed by hints of sherbet, almonds and strawberries.
Palate: Thick and oily, fruity and mellow; gives way to a sweet liquorice and aniseed flavour as it opens up.
Finish: Sweet and chocolatey with some coconut, the finish is long and consistent with a pleasant smokey tingle.
