Robert McConnell 100% Cuban Pipe Tobacco 250g Tub

For anyone curious, this may be made with 100% Cuban cigar leaf but it does not taste like Cuban cigars. I had a feeling it wouldnt but who wouldnt want to mix their own stronger Robert Lewis? In the past I have made my own blends and so wanted to see what this was like. (Always have a cheap budget pipe at hand). The tobacco in the pouch smells very sweet, so Ill presume it has a sugar casing. When smoked, the tobacco flavour itself doesnt really come through though. At all. It is creamy but it is also very sweet. Almost like a pure Virginia but without the taste of orange. To me, it tasted like I was smoking a toasted marshmallow. I personally, would not smoke this on its own again and I dont really like anything that is overly sweet, whereby I have to brush my teeth afterwards. (Thank God for samples). If you would like something that does taste of cigars to enhance your pipe tobacco but may take more time (unless you have lots of friends), I would suggest saving and adding some punch cuts from cigars. Otherwise, if you have a blend that you feel needs sweetening up but dont want to use an aromatic or you have an aromatic but dont want to add another flavour, then this is a good alternative to a Virginia.
