Part of the Gold Collection from the Penderyn distillery in Wales, this single malt has been matured in ex-bourbon barrels before spending some time in sherry casks to bring out a rich character.
A two-step process is the secret to this malt, first it was American oak casks that helped infuse this Welsh whisky with character and complexity.
Then it was the turn of sherry casks to crank up the sweetness and turn the special into the sublime.
It is bottled at 46%.
Nose: Aromas of dark fruit and rich toffee mingle with green apples and hazelnuts to create a deeper mystery
Palate: Rich sweetness gives way to refreshing dryness
Finish: Sweet notes of toffee and sultana persist in the long finish
