In the mid-1960s Gordon & MacPhail took the unprecedented step of launching a range of single malts under the brand name 'Connoisseurs Choice'.
Until this time, many of the whiskies the range featured would not have been available as single malt.
Today, 'Connoisseurs Choice' retains this exclusive nature with a range of rare and sought after single malts from distilleries throughout Scotland.
A classical and superb Connoisseurs Choice old map label expression.
A 5cl miniature of a rare bottle of 1970 North Port (aka Brechin) bottled by Gordon & Macphail as part of their Connoisseurs Choice range.
Almost all of North Port Brechin's production went into blends, with the first official bottling not appearing until the mid 1990s, a decade after the distillery had shut down.
Please note as this is a vintage miniature, conditions of bottle/label and liquid level can vary.
Nose: Soft malt with marzipan notes. Overall a very refreshing nose.
Palate: Malty with sweet hints from oranges and pears. A touch of cedar wood then comes into play with oak and more sweetness from honey before finally, banana leaves.
Finish: Sweet fruit syrup, nectarine and floral notes on the finish.
