Linkwood, no age statement - a 5cl miniature of this stunning pure Highland Malt Whisky by John McEwan & Co., Ltd bottled and bonded by Gordon & MacPhai.
Linkwood (or rather: the first of the two Linkwood distilleries) was founded in 1821 by Peter Brown.
That means that it was founded when whisky distillation was still (sort of) illegal. However, it wasn't until 1825 that production actually started at Linkwood distillery.
No Age Statement is not a new phenomenon, this Linkwood 70° Proof from the 1970’s is a great example.
Please note as this is a vintage miniature, conditions of bottle/label and liquid level can vary.
Nose: This might have no age statement, but there is plenty older whisky in here. Lovely old wood characteristics.
Palate: Again, lots of wood, tannins. Dry. A hint of menthol and cigar tobacco, but mainly sweet oranges and licorice, with a pinch of black pepper.
Finish: Menthol, tobacco and oranges. Medium in length.
