Diageo, the world’s largest spirits company, as well as the planet’s largest distiller of Scotch whisky, has been releasing each year, since 2001, a selection of 10 special releases from its hallowed whisky vaults.
The latest 2018 releases consist of bottlings from stocks of now closed distilleries, and special new expressions from their existing lineup of single malts, which features both extra young and extra old age statements, whiskies bottled at cask strength or whiskies not previously available as single malts.
A vast palett of aromas and flvours awaits, wherever you look on the nose and the palate. Sweet, oily, and salty then vinegar-dry and drying. Utterly complex and simply great.
A classic expression from historic Lagavulin distillery, this outstanding and inspirational 12 year old is full of energy and packed with distillery character.
Limited to 1 bottle per customer.
Nose: Sweet notes build, joined by crashing waves and damp leather. Soft spicy notes develop, along with pine trees and a touch of lime.
Palate: Chocolate-covered pine needles and leafy undergrowth. The sweet notes from the nose continue onto the palate with icing sugar and barley sugar balanced by zesty lime.
Finish: Mineral and minty, with leather smoke and a touch of sawdust.
