King's Ransom 'Round the World' by William Whitely & Co, owners of Edradour.
Bottled in the 1940s (probably pre-1944), distributed in 1947. This would put it within the era that notorious Mafia boss Frank Costello was the U.S. importer for Whitely (as he had been in Prohibition).
'This blend contains 85 per cent malt whiskies (mostly Edradour) which have been voyaged round the world in Bodega Sherry Wood casks, via Capetown, Melbourne, Cape Horn, Rio, Madeira, and so on back to Scotland.'
Bottled at 94 Proof (47% ABV), 4/5 Quart (757ml).
Please note as this is a vintage whisky, conditions of bottle/label and liquid level can vary.
This King's Ransom is a smooth and rich whisky with traces of chocolate coming to the forefront in waves followed by vanilla and citrus flavours.
