The Karuizawa distillery was established in 1955 in the foothills of Mt. Asama, an active volcano.
Traditional, small-scale and high quality production is the aim, with wooden wash backs, small stills and sherry casks from Spain all contributing to the process.
The environment is also ideal for whisky production with low temperatures and high humidity.
Exclusively released in the Taiwanese market, this is the first bottling released in 2013 (along with the 2nd and 3rd releases which followed in the same year)
The cask strength series from the now closed distillery is a combination of sherry casks from 1999 and 2000 all bottled at 61.7%.
Karuizawa Single Malts have won gold medals at IWSC and ISC testing competitons.
