Torabhaig is a new distillery that blends traditional and contemporary approaches.
The first distillery to be built on Skye in 190 years, it is only the second legal distillery ever to operate on the island and has been fully operational since January 2017.
They distil in beautiful copper stills as you would expect, but they chose to ferment in traditional wooden washbacks that add complexity of flavour in the whisky.
This is the second expression of Torabhaig Single Malt, available from July 2021 under the label ‘Allt Gleann - The Legacy Series.'
Bottled in small batches drawn from no more than 30 casks each.
Limited to 1 per customer
Nose: Fragrant peat on the nose with hints of barley sugar which combine with savoury smoky notes.
Palate: Soft creamy palate with a light, sweet almost bonfire-like smokiness. Lingering are undertones of oily brine with floral hints and beguiling sweet spice notes.
Finish: The spice continues onto this subtle but long finish.
