From the experimental folk at Ardbeg, comes this intensely mellow dram – Ardbeg Grooves!
Released in celebration of Ardbeg Day 2018 (the distillery’s open day during the Islay festival), Grooves is a mellow whisky that proves all you need is love – and peat.
The folks at Ardbeg have always been passionate about the benefits of an alternative lifestyle. Ardbeg dig peat but also dig crofting, crocheting, Celtic crosses and campfires.
For this Limited Edition bottling, they have rolled back the years to an Islay time gone by – back to village of Peat & Love.
Matured in ex-wine casks that have been heavily charred to form heavy grooves in the surface of the wood,
Produced using the grooviest casks ever, aromas of smoked spices combine with distant bonfires fading into a mellow haze of apple and smoked pear.
Nose: Intense aromas of smoked cinnamon and paprika, antique leather and saddle soap, with classic Ardbeg scents of pine resin, tar and briny sea spray.
Taste: A powerfully salty mouthfeel drifts into sweet vibes of treacle toffee, vanilla popcorn, salted fruits with soot and tar.
Finish: Smoked paprika and bonfires with a mellow sweetness throughout.
