Globally recognised as the iconic face of the award-winning television drama, Downton Abbey, Highclere Castle is now producing a cigar reminiscent of those enjoyed at Highclere Castle during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
When contacted by George Herbert, the current Highclere Castle owneer and 8th Earl Carnarvon, Nick Melillo, owner of Foundation Cigar Co. set himself in motion to create a cigar that aptly reflects the early British cigar history. The result was not only a fine smoking experience but also a new cigar company to be known as the Highclere Castle Company.
The cigar is also blended and rolled under the watchfull eye of the reigning king of Nicaraguan tobacco, A.J Fernandez. Though he's normally known for his feisty Nicaraguan blends, here AJ shows his skills with mellower cigars to appeal to the British cigar smoker!
The Highclere Castle Cigar is hand rolled in Esteli, Nicaragua, using Connecticut Shade wrapper, and both Criollo and Corojo from the volcanic soils of Jalapa and the island of Ometepe. The binder is made from Mata Fina, a dark tobacco from Brazil. The blend is finalised with an exclusive hybrid seed the company has named Nicadan.
The tobacco for each of these cigars has been aged for at least 3 years.
This magestic premium cigar is brimming with hearty notes of citrus, pepper, leather, caramel and oak. Just like its namesake, these flawlessly rolled cigars are the epitome of luxury and elegance.
