Delving deep into the distillery's history, the folks at Glenrothes have chanced upon an early association with the Islay Distillery Co, struck back in 1887.
This provided the stimulus for a new expression, one that reflects a delightfully serendipitous result.
Whisky selected from the Vintage 1992 have been chosen to give a temporary home in a cask hailing from the peaty lands of Islay.
This was allowed just the right amount of time to add a kiss of peat smoke, complementing, but not overpowering its exquisite character!
A first for Glenrothes distillery, but going by the taste, it may not be the last!
