An old and rare 40-year-old Glenlivet.
Encapsulating the very essence of Gordon & MacPhail's philosophy, the Private Collection comprises a truly exceptional and unique collection of greatly-aged single malts from celebrated, little known, and closed distilleries in Scotland...
This Glenlivet 40 Year Old was distilled Thursday, 3 August 1978 and bottled Tuesday, 9 October 2018 at 53.5%.
Only a limited amount of 319 bottles have been produced of this stunning Speysider which comes presented in redesigned bottle and presentation case.
One for the collectors!
Nose: Sweet sherried aromas weaved into layers of roasted hazelnut, soft fudge, milk chocolate and plump rum soaked raisins. Flashes of fresh citrus peel break through and combine with polish notes.
Palate: Smooth and spicy. Warm demerara sugar disperses over warming chilli, cinnamon and clove spice. Intense thick-cut marmalade notes unfold into a lingering charred oak edge.
Finish: Long, spicy, refined and well-balanced.
Whiskeybase has scored this Glenlivet 1978 G&M Private Collection 92.20/100 overall on their site through customer recommendations.
