The second batch of single malt Scotch whisky from the Glenburgie distillery bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company has arrived with a release of 75 numbered bottes.
The label shows a giant searching the Glenburgie distillery for something, but what? Yummy whisky, or a hat to put on his equally massive noggin? Both, much to the distress of the distillery workers.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains, blended malts, single grains, bourbons and blends from a variety of renowned distilleries. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic-novel-style labels.
Nose: Honeyed mandarin, pear and tomatoes on the vine, malty biscuits and strawberry jam also feature.
Palate: Fruity with apple and peach notes, some kiwi and more creamy biscuity barley.
Finish: The palate continues through to the finish with hints of tobacco leaf and marzipan.
Green barley; fresh with apple and barley water; fabulously salivating delivery where the malt is juicy and pitch-perfect. The sugars are refined - in both senses of the word- and play second fiddle to the ultra-intense malt; a slow movement towards oak-induced butterscotch tart- with the emphasis on the tart...;always a bit of a lucky dip with bottled versions of this distillery; very rarely match the consistency experienced in the blending lab. This one shows all its malty cards.
