This Glen Grant 1962 is another of Gordon & Macphail's long aged Glen Grants which along with Glenfarclas, represent the best-value long-aged sherried Speysides available.
Distilled in 1962 at the Glen Grant distillery in Speyside, this was matured in first fill sherry casks and bottled by Gordon and MacPhail.
Thankfully, Glen Grant is one of those special Speysiders along with the likes of Glenfarclas, Mortlach and Macallan that is capable of withstanding immense oak ageing without compromising on the taste!
Please note as this is a vintage whisky, conditions of bottle/label and liquid level can vary - Bottle comes singularly, no box included.
Nose: A rich and well balanced nose with notes of peppermint leaves and eucalyptus oil. A hint of liquorice develops with acacia honey and wood resins and toasted oak.
Palate: Again rich and full - there are notes of tree sap and golden syrup. Aniseed develops with Triple Sec notes and hints of cocoa. Hints of leather and tobacco linger in the background.
Finish: Long with a well-balanced sweetness.
Whiskeybase has scored this Glen Grant 1962 (Gordon & MacPhail) - 43 Year Old Bottled 2006 92.26/100 overall on their site through customer recommendations.
‘Reminds me a bit of the old Ben Nevis not so brute.’
