Named after the company that operated out of Dundashill distillery in the early 1800s, the Glasgow Distillery Company was set up by Liam Hughes, Mike Hayward and Ian McDougall 2013 and began producing Makar Gin in the early stages.
Matured in first fill ex-bourbon casks, finished in virgin white oak and non-chill filtered; 1770 is incredibly smooth, exceptionally fruity and complex; a single malt of sublime quality that continues the rise of a new whisky era in Glasgow.
Handcrafted in our copper pot stills, Tara and Mhairi, 1770 Glasgow Single Malt Scotch Whisky – 2019 Release combines the finest Scottish barley and the exceptionally pure water of Loch Katrine to create the finest spirit.
Nose: Dried dark fruits with tropical undertones on the nose, followed by hints of biscuit, oak and freshly cut grass.
Palate: Sweet butterscotch with a crème brulee char on the pallet. Hints of freshly sliced pear, dried figs, dates and raisin with sweet almond, honey and creamy shortbread notes.
Finish: A long finish of thickly spread orange marmalade, nutmeg notes underpinned by complex woodiness and a slight spice.
