Connecticut tobacco when used for wrappers gives the cigar a more mellow and sweet, sometimes tangy, flavour. There is however more than one type of Connecticut tobacco.
Originally it was the U.S. Connecticut Shade grown tobacco, grown in the state of Connecticut, but now these seeds are used all over the world to create this special tobacco. Generally lighter in colour and silky smooth, it gives the cigar a nice look and feel but not too dissimilar to the classic look found on Cuban cigars.
Once lit though, one can always immediately tell it’s a quality Connecticut wrapper due to it’s uniquely delicious flavours.
