Tasting Notes

Benriach 15 Year Old (Pedro Ximenez Sherry Cask Finish):
Nose: Zesty citrus is softened by subtle malt and honey nut.
Palate: More citrus notes, this time from Seville orange. Light peat, toffee, delicate spice.
Finish: Honey and toffee provides a sweetness as flourishes of orange return as if to say, 'farewell.'

Glenfarclas 10 Year Old:
Nose: Tempting sherry-sweet malty tones combine with delicate smokiness which release subtle spices. Warming the glass reveals honey, vanilla and pear drops.
Palate: Such a delicately light flavour with a mouth-watering combination of maltiness, smokiness and sherry sweetness. Hints of dried fruit, vanilla, cinnamon and cloves also appear and tempt the taste buds further.
Finish: Long, smooth and spicy, with a delicious, yet delicate, lingering smokiness.

Darkness! Bruichladdich 12 Year Old Pedro Ximénez Cask Finish:
Nose: Quite musky and rather creamy at full strength, with farmyard notes up front followed by sweet prune, dried apricots and raw sugar.
Palate: A solid palate of uncompromising dried fruits, spicy prunes and raisins, with a drying hint of salinity.
Finish: A return to the nose in some ways, with oak, some farmy funk and sweeter prunes re-emerging.

Smögen 3 Year Old 2011 Sherry Project 1:1:
Nose: Plenty of nutty aromas, bbq smoke notes along with herbs, red berries and some eucalyptus. Loads of flavour notes, plenty of layers.
Palate: Lovely and thick on the palate, smooth. There’s a smoked quality to this along with dried oak notes, spices and lashings of stewed autumn fruits.
Finish: Long, with layers of smoke and rich red stewed fruits that stick around for a good while with a handful of nut notes left at the end.

Goldlys 14 Year Old (cask 2629) Manzanilla Cask Finish:
Nose: Rich and sweet with honey, Oak and stewed fruit.
Palate: A nice balance between sweet and spicy, with nutmeg, exotic spices and grainy caramel.
Finish: Short and distinctive with a Sherry flavour.
