A Cigar Auction Goes Something Like This…

Two new Regius cigars are being made for Alfie Turmeaus Tobacconist, both limited and both heading to the U.K.’s second-oldest tobacconist as well as to the U.S. market by way of SAG Imports.

A 4 3/4 x 52 Robusto was developed by brand owner Akhil Kapacee with assistance from C.Gars Ltd’s Mitchell Orchant and crafted to be akin to the famous Partagás Serie D No.4.

“The Robusto blend is classically Cuban,” said Kapacee. “The result is a truly special cigar which will be highly sought after.”

Suggested pricing is set at $9.00 per cigar or $90.00 per box of 10. Only 200 boxes of the total 400 produced will be available in the U.S.

As for the Culebra, it measures 5 3/4 x 39 and features three different wrappers. A Cuban-seed Claro wrapper joins a Cuban-seed Oscuro and a Connecticut wrapper from the Honduran region of Talanga.

“The idea of using three different wrappers in a Culebra while keeping the binder and filler consistent is to allow the aficionado to appreciate how the wrapper affects flavor,” said Kapacee.

Similar to the Partagás Culebra, three Culebras will be sold for a total of nine cigars. Each Culebra retails for $24.00 meaning the nine total Petit Lancero-sized cigars will retail for $72.00.

Last year, the company announced what appears to be an identical Culebra for Virginia-based Winston’s Humidor’s third anniversary. The size was the same and featured the same wrapper combinations, but Kapacee indicated the blend is not the same. Pricing for that version, which is still in stock, is $59.40 according to the retailer.

Terence Reilly of SAG Imports told halfwheel the company would offer the cigars to U.S. retailers at the 2013 IPCPR trade show and convention in July and begin shipping after the show.
