Quarter of a million pounds to burn?

- Boisdale.co.uk

The Aged & Rare cigar auctions are held at Boisdale Canary Wharf, London. An article written on the Boisdale website features an interview with C.Gars Ltd managing director Mitchell Orchant. Mitchell explains where the cigars come from, in particular the 40 private lots held in Geneva that will go to the highest bidder. These 40 lots are expected to reach over £70,000, whether these will be smoked is up to the winning bidder.

International Cigar Auction at Boisdale. Quarter of a million pounds to burn?

£250,000 worth of vintage, rare and mature cigars – and cigar-related Lots - is expected to be knocked down at C.Gars Ltd's seventh auction at Boisdale Canary Wharf on Monday 26th November 2012.

'The global downturn and global smoking bans hasn't affected our shop, website or auction cigar sales one bit,' said Mitchell Orchant, Managing Director, C.Gars Ltd, 'quite the reverse.'

'As usual, dedicated wealthy cigar smokers will be flying in to London to bid thousands of pounds for some of the finest and most sought-after tubes of premium tobacco in the world.'

'Whether they actually smoke those cigars, or not, is up to them.'

'Quite often, our most discerning customers will often buy two of their favourite cigars, one to smoke now, and one for later.'

'It's those cigars that have been put away that are now fetching good prices at auction.'

The November 2012 auction will feature around 260 Lots, including the usual wide range of pre-Cuban-embargo Havanas that get serious smokers salivating.

'For the first time at auction will be 40 Lots comprising the private collection of a respected collector and connoisseur,' said Orchant.

'They were purchased from Christie's from 2001-2004 and have since been stored in a temperature and humidity controlled, custom-built, state-of-the-art humidor. They are now stored at Davidoff in Geneva and on sale to the highest bidder.'

'If you want to bid for the entire 40 Lot it will set you back over £70,000. We might even throw in an ashtray.'
