A unique cigar collection goes up for sale

Cigar aficionados have a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to bid for the collection of the late Lord Steinberg, founder of Stanley Leisure, at an auction of fine and rare cigars at Boisdale Canary Wharf (pictured) in London on Monday November 28.

The auction is held by C.Gars Ltd, the largest Havana cigar specialist in the UK, and has already attracted overwhelming interest from around the world.

"The vintage cigars market remains robust," says Mitchell Orchant, MD of C.Gars Ltd. "Our past four auctions achieved almost 100 per cent sales, with many bids well above established market prices. Discerning smokers are still happy to light up their lives with rare smoke."

Among the 400 lots, other star items include an enormous range of pre-Embargo Havanas, highly collectable Davidoff cigars, including 80th Anniversary boxes of 10 and 20, and a Fidel Castro-signed Cohiba Gran Corona humidor estimated to set a world-record bid of over £50,000.

Brian Ebbesen, former head of cigar auctions at Christie's London, will wield the gavel. After cocktails and canapés at 6pm, the auction begins at 7pm and will be followed by cigar-smoking on Boisdale's terrace.
