Largest Cigar Store in the UK set to open in Liverpool

Largest Cigar Store in the UK set to open in Liverpool The Northwest is certainly a burgeoning area for cigars, hardly breaking stride from the opening of the UK's new Casa del Habano at 32 Watergate Street, in Chester last November, C.Gars Ltd have announced the acquisition of the ground floor of The Albany in Old Hall Street, Liverpool L3, with plans to turn it into the largest and most spectacular cigar store in the UK.

Speaking to UK Cigar Scene Magazine the day after the purchase was completed C.Gars Managing Director Mitchell Orchant was clearly excited at the latest expansion to his empire.

"We have been looking for the right location to expand in Liverpool for some time and we are delighted with the new location which we have purchased outright. We will be making a very significant investment and creating something very special" Said Mitchell. "We have some minor planning and building procedures to go through and then the builders start work with a plan to complete the first stage by late Summer".

"We have 5,000 square feet to work with and our first project is to create the main cigar store area which will have a huge walk in humidor, a smokers accessories room, a pipe, tobacco and whisky room and a very large sampling lounge. The next phase will be to create a large VIP sampling room and a Whisky lounge which will also feature live music".

We asked Mitchell about the reason for selecting the North West for such a large investment and it's clear that a great deal of planning has gone into this move "Turmeaus tobacconist of Liverpool was founded in 1817" says Mitchell "and is the oldest tobacconist shop in Merseyside and the second oldest in the UK, at one time they had 10 stores in Liverpool. Our existing stores in the city are trading extremely well and as we head towards the 200th anniversary of the business in 2017 it was clear that we need more space. When this building became available I knew we had a great building in a really hot location. L3 is a fantastic location and we are going to create something really special".

Watch out for more news of the opening in future issues of UK Cigar Scene.
