Dalwhinnie Distillery was established in 1897 at Dalwhinnie in Scotland’s Highland whisky region.
Situated at an altitude of just over 320m above sea level this is the second highest working distillery in Scotland.
Dalwhinnie malt whisky Distillery continues to operate with just a single pair of stills and two round wooden worm tubs.
Introducing a 25 Year Old Dalwhinnie from Diageo's 2015 Special Releases, the first time a bottling from this distillery featured since 2012 (also a 25 year old).
Matured in refill American oak hogsheads, this is a release of a limited amount of 5,916 bottles.
Nose: Sweetness kicks things off with sugared almonds and spring meadows kick off the sweet side of the nose, with green leaves and freshly cut crass providing some contrast.
Palate: Sweet and fruity – apples, pears and unripe peaches – with a spicy backbone – cinnamon toast and clove. The spice builds on the palate, with the cloves starting to dominate before sweetness balances things out nicely.
Finish: Soft and sweet, french toast with cinnamon and syrup before a gentle spice.
