Part of The Dalmore Port Vintages collection, this 20 year old Highland single malt has been finished for three years in specially selected 1974 Colheita port pipes from W & J Graham's vineyard in Portugal's Douro Valley.
The port pipes have held the finest port for 30 years before being used for finishing the Dalmore spirit, imparting indulgent, smooth and complex flavours on the whisky.
Nose: Blackcurrants with rich coffee beans and praline chocolate, yet more richness!
Palate: Gingerbread plus damson plums and passion fruit giving a more refreshing tone to this Dalmore.
Finish: More fruit from pineapple, Sanguinello blood oranges and marzipa giving the finish of this Dalmore a rich yet refreshing tone, the theme throughout!
Whiskey fun has scored this Dalmore 20 Year Old Vintage 1996 87/100 overall on their site through customer recommendations.
Serge describes this whiskey as ‘jammy but well-balanced, with some honey sauce and triple-sec. I like it quite a lot and it’s not even too thick. Neither is it too Porty..’
