The mighty river Tay is renowned as the largest of Scotland’s great salmon rivers.
The “Silvery Tay” is steeped in fishing legend and is famed for Salmon of prodigious size.
The most famous of these, which weighed in at a staggering 64 pounds, was caught by Miss Georgina Ballantine in 1922. Miss Ballantine’s record remains unbroken, even today.
In recognition of the mighty Tay, this unique expression of the Dalmore has been created to celebrate its power and majesty.
To support and further their unceasing work, a generous donation was originally made to the Tay Foundation from the sale of every bottle of this exceptional single highland malt whisky.
Nose: Rich, sherry is prominent.
Palate: Plum. Summer pudding. Thick clotted cream. Bitter chocolate which is masked by the Oloroso sherry action with a pleasant, warming edge.
Finish: In the distance there’s a distinct aniseed and Pernod note.
Whiskey fun has scored Dalmore Rivers Collection Tay Dram Season 2012 79/100 overall on the blog.
Serge describes this whiskey as ‘maybe more elegant than the Dee, certainly grassier, with maybe a little rubber in the background. Quite some orange zests as well….’
