A delicious Speyside bottling from, in comparison to others, a rather obscure distillery.
After a both unexpected and unwelcome absence, (and amidst unpleasant rumours of it’s never returning), we are delighted that the beautifully sherried, complex and delicious Dailuaine 16YO Flora & Fauna is back in stock!
A special dram for after-dinner enjoyment and reflection. Furthermore, as only 2% of the distillery's output goes into single malt. Big, rich, sweet and smoky, with a very smooth mouthfeel and plenty of fruits and spices.
Jim Murray has scored this Dailuaine a 79/100 in his 2015 Whisky Bible, describing it as ' one for those who want a massive dram'
Nose: Thick sugar notes, boiled sweets, cereals, barley sugars. Rich cocoa powder and bitter orange but that later alters ever so slightly to reveal a sharper citrus note of lemon pith which is complimented by slightly dusty macadamia nuts.
Palate: Smooth and rich, warming syrupy flavours and a smokiness give way to lighter notes of tinned peaches and sponge fingers.
Finish: Nutty, almonds, oily, smoke, oak.
Syrupy, almost grotesquely heavy at times; the lighter notes of previous bottlings have been lost under an avalanche of sugary, over-ripe tomatoes. One for those who want a massive dram
